Description:

This full time program prepares graduates to become registered nurses providing nursing care autonomously and in collaboration with other health care professionals with people of all ages in a variety of settings - hospitals, communities, homes, clinics and residential facilities. The graduate will be prepared to plan, coordinate and provide care for individuals, families, groups and communities. The graduate is prepared to work in a complex, ever-changing health care system by the use of critical thinking skills and evidence-informed practice.

Graduates of the program are eligible to write the national registration exams, and to apply for registration as a Registered Nurse in British Columbia. Registration through the College of Registered Nurses of British Columbia is required before employment as a RN in BC.

Test Scores:	Test of English as a Foreign Language (Internet Based) [min. 90] or International English Language Testing System (academic or immigration) [min. 6.5] English is the language of instruction at VCC. Students who have been awarded a degree from an accredited Canadian post-secondary institution where English is the medium of instruction will meet the language requirements for all VCC programs. Additional Admission Requirements:	Letter(s) of Reference Work Experience Applicants are required to have three University Transfer first year courses equivalent to 18.0 credits, which include the following: VCC English 1100 and 1200 or equivalent with a minimum C+ or better in each course, VCC Biology 1120 and 1220 (Human Anatomy & Physiology), or equivalent within the last five years with a minimum C+ or better in each course, and two terms (six credits) of one of the following Humanities course: Psychology, Sociology, Anthropology, or equivalent with a minimum C+ or better in each course. Please visit the website for complete program requirements. Applicants are required to have volunteer experience in a health care setting or employment in a health care field. Volunteer experience will consist of a minimum of 30 hours of volunteer work with adults or children in an acute care or community health care agency. A written reference from an employer or volunteer coordinator that reflects the length and nature of the volunteer experience or employment in a health care setting must be submitted.
